RID List processing has always been an important aspect of DB2 and is used in several vital operations. However, thanks mainly to some cryptic IFCID counters, tuning of RID Pool activity has also been one of the most overlooked and misunderstood areas of DB2 performance.

Recent enhancements to DB2 V12 have made the use of the RID pool even more important, and recent modifications to the IFCID counters, and vendor delay in implementing these modifications, have only added to the confusion and misunderstanding around RID Pool monitoring and Tuning.

By explaining how the RID Pool works and how DB2 uses it, this presentation will clarify the confusion around the RID Pool metrics and provide guidelines on how to correctly monitor the RID Pool and help identify and solve potential performance problems within your system.
